What you have in your hands is an early exploration of an archaeology of childhood and the present, centered on communications.

From an early age, I was drawn to the material supports that sustained what was then referred to as electronic communications, now also known as telecommunications.

During my adolescence, I worked processing sound signals for a sound system, known as a sonidero in Latin America.

I discovered that sound had its own language when handled through loudspeakers: midrange, treble and bass, depth and dimension.

But above all, I discovered a passion for communication and a particular relationship with technology and with the devices that enable the amplification, transmission, recording, reproduction and projection of sound and of both still and moving images.

Later, I trained as a technician in electrical systems and electronic communications. I then studied Audiovisual Communication.

Today, through still photography, visuality, and the crafts and arts of recording, I return to the traces that remain in the present of what I once observed and experienced.

This archive emerges from that technical and personal memory, looking at the infrastructures, objects and traces of communications as vestiges of a present.

The photographs were taken in Mexico, Colombia, and Ecuador.
